2004 Forum Report: Financing Technologies for the Environment

Next Steps: Follow-up Meetings on Financing Social Ventures

The initial follow-up from the Forum session will be three dinner salons where a select group of investors and entrepreneurs will consider the capital challenge from three key lenses: a venture capital perspective; a foundation perspective; and a corporate treasury perspective. Two of the participants in the Open Space session on "Capital Development for Social Ventures" committed to ensuring that the conversations and content are linked across these dialogues.

It was also agreed that a key to success would be to engage high visibility players - leaders in differing capital domains. Amber Nystrom agreed to structure the format and primary salon deliverables, while Rupert Ayton, Sandy Selman and Peter Tavernise agreed to develop the specific content and primary invitation list for each facilitated session. Resources would be explored to capture and share the results in a constructive manner, so that both participants from the Tech Forum and much broader audiences would benefit. Effort will also be made to link this with several parallel efforts to develop capital resources in the social venture space.
