The first Tech Museum Awards Forum, Financing Technologies for the Environment, was held on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at the Golden Gate Club in San Francisco, CA with the support of Applied Materials, Inc. and The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.
The program brought a group of The Tech Museum Awards Intel Environment Laureates from around the globe, together with more than 60 leaders from business, civil society, academia and government, to advance technology-based solutions to critical environmental challenges.
The day combined lectures and panel presentations with facilitated conversations on "next practices" and "open space" discussions in which participants set their own agenda. The result was a day of innovation and collaboration which everyone attending reported was valuable for their work. One participant commented, "I would have walked 10 miles barefoot across broken glass to attend."
