The Tech Awards Gala
The Tech Museum, along with its partners and sponsors, celebrated the technological innovations of twenty-five remarkable Laureates from 9 countries: Brazil, Canada, Cuba, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, South Africa, United Kingdom, and the United States. And while the Laureates are headquartered in these countries, the impact from their projects extends to 43 countries around the world.

Global Humanitarian Award
The Global Humanitarian Award recognizes an individual, corporation, or organization that has been a distinguished leader in promoting solutions for the most serious issues facing humanity and our environment, as outlined by the Millennium Report of the United Nations. The recipient is selected by the Tech Museum.

Kristine Pearson, Executive Director of Freeplay Foundation, the 2005 recipient, was recognized for her inspirational leadership in creating an organization that distributes Lifeline radios to orphans and refugees in Sub-Saharan Africa. These radios connect displaced peoples with vital health, education, political information and bring encouragement to over 2 million listeners.
